In the fifth novel of the captivating Rhymes With Love series from New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Boyle, a young woman's hopes of a match encounter a wickedly handsome complication . . .

Lavinia Tempest has been eagerly anticipating a spectacular season. But one disastrous pile-up on the Almack's dance floor derails all her plans. Add to that, the very stunning revelations about her mother's scandalous past have become the ton's latest on dits. Lavinia's future has gone from shining bright to blackest night in one misstep.

Alaster "Tuck" Rowland admits he's partly to blame for Lavinia's disastrous debut. But it's not guilt that compels him to restore her reputation. Rather, he's placed a wager that he can make Lavinia into one of the most sought-after ladies in London. Who better than an unrepentant rake to set society astir?

Tuck's motives are hardly noble. But in teaching the lovely Lavinia how to win any man she wants, he suddenly finds himself tangled in the last place he ever imagined: in love.

Susan Duerden narrates this Regency romance, which sees Lavinia Tempest ruined. Ruined! All because that knave Tuck Rowland let go of her on the middle of the dance floor and sent her crashing across the room. And her reputation will never ever recover. Duerden is a warm and engaging narrator. Her delivery is occasionally breathy, leaving the characters perpetually sounding as if they're surprised by the turn of events in the story. While this audiobook takes place somewhat concurrently with THE VISCOUNT WHO LIVED DOWN THE LANE, it's not at all necessary to have read that title to enjoy this one. It is all Alaster Tuck Rowland's fault. Lavinia Tempest has come to London with one goal in mindto make her debut and secure a perfectly proper husband. To do so, she is armed with a list of rules that must be followed, and the number one rule is No dancing, because every time Lavinia tries to dance in public, complete disaster follows in her wake. And yet she finds herself accepting Tuck's offer to dance at Almack's. At first, Lavinia can't believe her good luck, since it seems that her terpsichorean curse may finally be broken. Everything comes to a crashing halt (literally), however, when Tuck suddenly abandons Lavinia on the dance floor. Now Tuck wants to apologize by making Lavinia the talk of the town, but can Lavinia trust Tuck, or is the incorrigible knave just giving her another song and dance? Boyle's incandescent wit shines brightly in the fifth installment of her irresistible Rhymes with Love series (The Viscount Who Lived down the Lane, 2014). Combine this sparkling sense of humor with the seemingly effortless grace of Boyle's writing and the droll charm of her characters, and you can enjoy and recommend another captivating romance from one of the genre's brightest stars.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2016, American Library Association.)
